Stiliana Panova

Hello, I’m Sti. I’m studying Molecular Biology, 4th and last year in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. I have great interests in Botany, studying Latin, however the subject which astonishes me the most is Genetics because of the boundless opportunities it provides.

Interests, hobbies, leisure time:
I extremely adore spending time with my family and loved ones, as well as walking my dog and watch “The Lord of the Rings” countless times. Also, I like to dance Irish dances - something that has been a defining part of my life for more than 10 years now.

Electrophoresis.

Gabriela Viyacheva

Hi, my name is Gaby. Currently I’m studying Molecular Biology, in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and I’m a 4th year student now. I’m keen on Microbiology and Genetic engineering.

Interests, hobbies, leisure time:
In my spare time I love being out with my friends and family. I am also a passionate burger lover and love skiing in the winter.

Kalina Kukova

Hello, I’m Kally. I’m studying Molecular Biology in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and I am a 3th year student now. I am interested in: Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology.

Interests, hobbies, leisure time:
My other inspirations include ballet, yoga, theater and traveling. I love spending time with my family and friends and I always find some time for doing sports especially rhythmic gymnastics.

Hi, I’m Ilka and mastering in Biology of development, 1st year. This is the second year I take part of iGEM Bulgaria’s team. The chance of being part of the team gives me a lot of opportunities such like better team work qualities, social skills, lab work and so many others.

Hello, my name is Diyan and I am 4th year medical student in the Medical University of Sofia. I am 22 years old and I love to learn new things by meeting interesting people. I am a part of many organizations and many causes but in the recent months I dedicated myself to this enterprise.

I love to explore new places, listen to different music and read on different subjects different from science and medicine – entrepreneurship, business, biology, and psychology. I play the piano sometimes.

Desislava Popova

Hi, iGEMers, I am second year survivor and my name is Desislava Popova! In Bulgaria team I implement function of team leader and administrator. If you ask me why I like iGEM..it will take us a long time…so long short version was that I didn’t know anything in the beginning. Unexpectedly I discover world of synthetic biology and It wasn’t more that I ever imagine! It helped me grow not only in the field of biology but as a person. If you ask me why I did it I again.. I think I am pinch of sarcasm a little bit of masochist with a pervert sense of biology. Other than that I define myself like passionate manga reader and anime fan! I hope we meet in the Giant Jamboree in Boston!

Interests, hobbies, leisure time:
My passion is genetic engineering and synthetic biology and more precisely namely innovation and ingenuity that these studies provide - the ability to conquer the world through science.

Boris Kirov

My name is Boris. I teach Bioengineering at TU – Sofia and I organize an iGEM team for Bulgaria for a second consecutive year. I love all science and I am really excited about modern Bioengineering and Synthetic Biology, since they encompass all the existing scientific knowledge. Being a scientist, I am also a dedicated party guy, fairly good karaoke singer and an active sportsman.

My favorite lab instrument is the shaking incubator – I wish I could spend my life inside one.

Maya Yovcheva

Hello, I am excited to be part of the second Bulgarian iGEM team, even remotely!!! I have obtained a BSc in Molecular Biology from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Bulgaria) and an MSc in Medical Biotechnologies from Wageningen University (The Netherlands). My journeys in the molecular biology and protein expression field began during my Master Thesis project and continue ever since. I am currently an R&D Scientist in a new product development group in one of the leading biotech companies in the world. I love being on the frontline of the innovations and the work that allow us to advance science to levels never seen before.
