What We Did in This Summer

In this summer, we for the first time designed gene circuit, validated new technology and achieved application of heavy metal enrichment on a cell chasis with synthetic genome.

We started from synthetic yeast towards to acquire more innovative and bold gene circuit.

We utilized the forefront of genome rearrangement technique, SCRaMbLE, to obtain double resistance to copper and cadmium by rapid evolution.

We upgraded exsisting parts for the purpose of more sensitive biosensor which has a wider response range to copper.

We employed our gene circuit to realize biological enrichment of copper and cadmium.

We successfully modelled bistability, biosensor and biological adsorption.

Team members

Hui Xu, the instructor of our team, He tirelessly and patiently assisted with us in project design, experiment operation, wiki construction, human practice and modeling.

Mingzhe Han, the student leader of Team Tianjin this year, is in charge of the overall managment, Cu ion's detection, error-prone PCR, and part of verification of Mating Switcher.

Xinyu Chen, main principle for establishment of mating switcher characterization and also participate in biosensor for Cu Ion's detection experiment.

Xinyue Cao, a primary experiment operators and designer of SCRaMble system and flocculation system. She is also responsible for the knockdown of URA label and try to solve meaningless mating. Besides, she is a member of the ccic meeting and jamboree presentation.

Li Sun, one of the principals of experiment . Besides, she also offered help for Human Practice.

Xinru Wang, one of the main principals for human practice.

Weixian Fu, modeling constructor of Bistable Model and Function conversion Model,who was also partly responsible for experiment operation.

Lingyi Zhou, a successful lab operator, therefore she spares time to edit the handbook and make the cartoon.

Manlin Yang, the major art, team clothes, logo, poster and the presentation designer and one of the primary experiment operatoers.

Yushuang Wang, one of the primary experiment operators and projects designers for SCRaMbLE and flocculation. She is responsible for part of wiki construction of these two projests. Also, she is one of the speakers.

Yangteng Ou, one of the experiment operators and designers of the SCRaMbLE and flocculation parts. Writing wiki, producing ideas, making videos, and doing the last presentation.

Shiyu Zhang, main principal for experiment operation, responsible for the verification of mating swicher system.

Wenqing Guo, main principle for designing and constructing the devise of mating type switcher, and also the team photograoher.

Lin Tu, one of the principles for experiment, and participate in constructing the HO vector.

Yan Zheng, a experiment operator of both Separation of different irons and HO vector. She writes wiki as well.

Zhou Guo, main principle of experiment in Separation of different irons .

Yangyang Miao, a primary experiment operators and one of designers of experiment. A multifunctional assistant who like helping other partners conduct their experiment. Besides, he is also responsible for modeling in RFP expression intensity.

Yixuan Chen, main principle of human practice and partly constructed the project.

Xiaopo Cheng, one of the primary experiment operators and project designers. Moreover, he is also responsible for modeling.

Gefei Zhang, the wiki designer, responsible for the design and construction of our wiki.

Zichen Liu, responsible for the construction of our wiki and the designer of our wiki.

Dr. Yi Wu, who gave us useful advices and helped notices to fix all kinds of experiment problems, and who supported the Tianjin iGEM team all the time.

Resistance to Heavy Metals Support

Yalu Ma, the teacher of inorganic chemistry at the school of science Tianjin University, borrowed us 0.3g of the cadmium ion.

Dr. Sijie Zhou, who gave us a lot of help on constructing CRE vector and SCRaMbLE’s method.

Separation of Different Irons Support

Jing Chang, a kind teacher who gave us permission of using the Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy for measuring the concentration of copper ion and cadmium.
