Cancer, a Widespread Killer and a Common Enemy
According to the World Health Organization, cancer was responsible for 8.8 million deaths in 2015, and globally, nearly 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer. It is the second leading cause of death worldwide. The number of new cases of cancer is expected to rise by about 70% over the next 2 decades. In the United States, according to the American Cancer Society, the current probability of that a man will develop cancer in his lifetime is 42.04%, and the probability that a woman will develop cancer in her lifetime is 37.58%.
