iGEMeta

iGEMeta is an initiative to bring together the iGEM community through data.
Over the course of 14 years, almost 2,000 projects, over 40 countries and 30,000 participants, iGEMers have been pushing synthetic biology forward. The amount of work and data generated by our community is immense and invaluable. Through iGEMeta we reflect upon the achievements of the past and draw conclusions to improve the competition and synthetic biology. We hope that our efforts highlight the best of iGEM and capture the scale of what our community can and has already done.

All teams database

We have created a database that gathers all the team's and their projects from 2004 to 2016. Institution, track, abstracts, titles and awards are some of the fields that are available for now, in the future we will include more, such as human practices efforts and safety measures.
We hope it is an useful resource that manages to capture the whole of iGEM into a single spreadsheet and the map above.

JOGL

Just One Giant Lab (JoGL) is the first research and innovation laboratory operating as a distributed, open and massive mobilisation platform for volunteer-based, IP-free task solving. JoGL helps sync humanity onto solving our most urgent and important problems using Open Science, Responsible Innovation and Continuous Learning. JoGL partners with academic labs, companies, startups, foundations, NGOs and public services to create massive mobilisation on distributed and participatory research programs for understanding and solving Health, Environmental, Social and Humanitarian issues. As such, we are partnering with iGEM in order to better understand team work and collaborative behavior in the context of an open scientific challenge. We extracted and analyzed the teams' wikis since 2008, gathering an unprecedented wealth of information on the organizational principles guiding performance and success in collaborative science.
