Basic Parts

Basic parts are defined as "functional unit[s] of DNA that cannot be subdivided into smaller component parts."

Basic Parts

BBa_K2226003 - COX-2 gene

This part consists of the gene for cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that is found in elevated levels during inflammation, predominantly found in gastric mucosa and kidneys.

BBa_K2226004 - c-Myc gene

This part consists of the mutated c-Myc gene, which is a regulator gene that codes for a transcription factor. The expressed protein controls multiple functions including cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. The mutated version of c-Myc is expressed constitutively in many cancers.

BBa_K2226001 - COX-2 promoter and BBa_K2226002 - c-Myc promoter

These parts promote the transcription of the COX-2 gene while binding to reporter system FkBP-Cluc394, and regulate transcription of the c-Myc gene while binding to reporter system FRB-Nluc398, respectively.

Composite Parts

Composite parts are defined as "functional unit[s] of DNA consisting of two or more basic parts assembled together."
