New students propaganda in Jinan Foreign Language School

In the golden fall this year, we made a big propaganda to the new students (10th grade) in order to broaden our influence of JNFLS team and to let more students know about the Synthetic Biology and iGEM. We mainly introduced the topics as below:

+

--The definition of synthetic biology and the aim of it.
+
--Current techniques and the concept of biosafety.
+
--The history & rules of iGEM and how we can participate in it.
+
--How our design works and the relevant principles.
+
--What we do in laboratory and the purpose of each experiment.
+
--The communication with other teams and their projects.
+
We also shared our feelings and funny experiences while doing experiments, and exchanged our opinions of biology. Beyond our expectation, we found that some of the students showed great understanding in this field. We’d glad to see that such a large number of them expressed great interests in synthetic biology, as well as the competition. Hope they can have better performance next year.

Public Propaganda in Science Museum of Shandong Province

+

In order to spread the idea of Synthetic Biology to the public, we went to Shandong science museum in the summer vacation. We also introduced our project: using yogurt to execute the colon cancer. Our project did attract many people. Through this social practice, we not only let people know more about Synthetic Biology, but also leanrt how to communicate with strangers which helped us to become confident. This activity was indeed got a huge success!
