University of Bristol: Faculty of Biomedical Sciences / IRIS (Interdisciplinary Research Internship Scheme) / The Alumni Foundation / School of Biochemistry

The Faculty of Biomedical Sciences gave a significant amount of funding for studentships and for the Boston jamboree registration, while IRIS gave funding for three student stipends. Funding from the Alumni Foundation and the School of Biochemistry will also help get the team to Boston.

BrisSynBio's generous donation went towards consumables, funding our studentships and funding our travel to Boston.

BBSRC / Wellcome Trust

BBSRC: "We are one of seven research councils that work together as Research Councils UK (RCUK). We are funded by the government's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)."

Wellcome Trust: "Our funding supports over 14,000 people in more than 70 countries. In the next five years, we aim to spend up to £5 billion helping thousands of curious, passionate people all over the world explore ideas in science, population health, medical innovation, the humanities and social sciences and public engagement."

Joint funding from BBSRC and the Wellcome Trust went towards studentships, consumables and the Boston jamboree.

Sanctus

Sanctus are an environmental business which offers contaminated land remediation.

Funding from Sanctus will help us get to the jamboree in Boston.

Cabot Institute

Unit DX

Unit DX provides flexible, high-spec laboratory space available for rent in Central Bristol.

Funding from Unit DX early on in the project allowed us to create our Plasmid Puzzle Game, attend the Big Bang Fair fully equipped and travel to the iGEM UK meetup.

Generon

"Generon commercialises reagents (antibodies, recombinants, ELISA kits, RNAi, cDNA clones, probes, PCR/qPCR reagents...) to diagnostic and research labs. As a very dynamic company, we do our best to be close to our customers' needs in terms of high quality reagents that we propose and in terms of service that we provide."

IDT is the largest manufacturer of custom oligonucleotide products in the US.

IDT synthesised our Nap and Nrf fragments free of charge.

SnapGene

SnapGene creates software to meet the everyday needs of molecular biologists.

SnapGene allowed us to use their software for free, which enabled us to design our Nap and Nrf operons and PCR primers.
