Responsible Innovation in iGEM and the future

Our team is incorporating dimensions of responsible innovation- Anticipation, Reflexivity, Inclusion and Responsiveness into a protocol we create for us and future iGEM teams. Integrated human practice is about addressing concerns for ethics, sustainability, social justice, environmental impact, governance and intellectual property rights. We decided to use the dimensions of responsible innovation along with these different aspects to create a protocol for iGEM teams to reflect and act upon.

    FOUR DIMENSIONS OF RESPONSIBLE INNOVATION:

    - Reflexivity

    - Anticipation

    - Inclusion

    - Responsiveness

    ASPECTS:

    I. Public Engagement

    II. Open Access

    III. Science Education

    IV. Governance

    V. Ethics

Embedded concerns: Sustainability, Environmental, Science and Innovation, Law and Policies, Social justice

Our series of questions on based on the main ideas shown in figures 1 and 2, including the four dimensions- anticipation, inclusion, reflexivity and responsiveness, the idea of 3Ps, and different aspects involved in these concepts.
