Ink Production

Our final product from the cells will be the pigments we require to make ink, but before we can use them we must extract them from the cells> The way we will be extracting the pigment is via organic extraction. We will first lyse the cells by using sonication and them for additional precautions we will be lysing the cells a second time using the french press method. After that, we will filter out as much cell debris as we can using different filter papers, and then it is time for the organic extraction. This will be done using methanol for most of the pigments and acetone for the other one.
