This bioethics panel was a way for us as an iGEM team to make a greater impact on our community as a whole. Through the organization of this panel we hoped to create an opportunity for students and faculty at Emory to confront the hard questions relating to the editing of the human embryo using CRISPR/Cas9. Although this event did not lead to many clear answers we believe it created a doorway to future conversations from this topic. With over 100 undergraduate students, as well as fellow iGEMers from Lambert High School in attendance, we were able to share an great opportunity to start a conversation on an important and relevant topic in biotechnology today!
