Team IIT Madras

Welcome to our wiki!

We, a group of undergraduate students at the Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras, bring to you this year’s iGEM project: production of fuels by microbial electrosynthesis. This process involves using electricity to drive microbial metabolism. Carbon dioxide will be the carbon source; which will be reduced to the final product - the fuel

Here is our progress so far:

Building the electrosynthesis chamber
Obtained Haloferax volcanii from MCC Pune.
Collaboration with IISc: We are providing them with data for their cell counting software.
Creating a database of all synthetic biology related information required to grow, characterize and transform unconventional organisms.
