Design

The foundation of our circuit

Our circuit was designed to utilize specific parts so that when the E-coli cells containing this gene circuit are exposed to arsenic, the Green Florescent Protein (GFP) is produced making the ticket glow under a blue light.

PHASE 1

  • Test efficacy of the circuit in vivo
  • Grow transformed e.coli with plasma circuit in Arsenic laced media
  • Serial dilution of arsenic and arsenic to find the lowest activation amount of the circuit in vivo

PHASE 2

  • Test the efficacy of the plasma circuit in S.I.T.U.
  • Perform above experiments with prepared plasma circuit
  • Titrate both circuit and trigger to find optimal mixture
  • Standardize reactions
  • Test on paper matrix

PHASE 3

  • Test efficacy of freeze drying circuit on paper for distribution and storage purposes.

Design

Design is the first step in the design-build-test cycle in engineering and synthetic biology. Use this page to describe the process that you used in the design of your parts. You should clearly explain the engineering principles used to design your project.

This page is different to the "Applied Design Award" page. Please see the Applied Design page for more information on how to compete for that award.

What should this page contain?
  • Explanation of the engineering principles your team used in your design
  • Discussion of the design iterations your team went through
  • Experimental plan to test your designs
