Experiments

From this page you can access detailed descriptions of the experiments we've done. To skip the details and quickly find out about most important achievements, check out Results. To read about how we structured and planned our work, see the Design page.

Overview

We divided our experiments into five categories corresponding to CATE's five functions (see Design). We worked in parallel on individual functions and combined them together once they reached the desired behaviour.

In the first phase, we designed specific DNA parts based on literature research and planned the assembly of the parts into test devices. The test devices were then used to develop working assays. In the second phase, the characterization of the individual functions enables us to tune and optimize it by changing the expression level of proteins with RBS libraries or different designs of the promoters. The third phase was reserved for combining of the functions, while keeping the assays the same as in the first phase.
