Comic book of synthetic biology

This year we teach people about synthetic biology in a more innovative way. At the same time advocating innovative scientific ideas! Since we have had a more innovative conception of synthetic biology and scien-tific thinking, we spent half a year designing and creating a comic book of synthetic biology, which talks about the biological model of synthet-ic biology in the way of a series of vivid cartoon stories. We want to make more people understand synthetic biology and love synthetic bi-ology!

And we think it's a great way to get more people who lack the knowledge base to understand synthetic biology, for example, for ele-mentary and junior students. We present complex biological models and principles in a simple and interesting comic form. We will continue to make more interesting reading, let more people understand and love synthetic biology!

Organize life science and technology camp

We cooperated with many other universities and organized summer camps for primary and secondary school students to spread our thoughts.

Our summer camp is mainly for junior college students. A week of life science camp, we have a full teaching. At the camp ceremony, students from 4 universi-ties communicated with each other. We are in the intertidal zone of the sea to classify marine organisms. We salvage Enteromorpha and other algae. We extract marine luminous bacteria from marine organisms.

Learn to explore the whole process of scientific research, from the discovery of problems to raise questions, independent design experiments to solve the prob-lem. The main purpose of the summer camp is to inspire college students to de-velop their own strengths, to find personal interests and to improve their learning methods, and more importantly, to inherit the spirit of independent innovation and scientific research.

This year is the first year of Shandong University to participate in the iGEM com-petition, Shandong University iGEM team to join our summer camp team, the knowledge of more disciplines to bring into our summer camp activities.

In the future, we look forward to more colleges and universities to join in, more colleges and universities can provide more college students, senior students with more learning resources, the spirit of independent scientific research constantly spread and inherit. (Detailed Link)

Lectures on popular science among primary and middle school students

This year, we held a series of lectures on the Science of synthetic biology in the local university, middle school and primary school. We have introduced many scientific research projects, igem competitions, and explained the related knowledge of synthetic biology. At the same time, we introduce the applica-tion of synthetic biology in life, including agriculture, medical treatment, envi-ronmental protection and so on.

We showcase iGEM competitions, synthetic biology, and publicize our projects at the university's Science and Technology exhibition. To make students of different majors understand synthetic biology. Luckily, at the science fair, we introduced our team and iGEM contest to our national Vice Premier Liu Yandong. She gave us great encouragement and affirmation.
