Pretty Cold Plant

Frozen in Thyme

Frost resistant tecnology within frost intolerant crops

Every year, millions of dollars worth of produce is damaged or destroyed due to frost.

Many producers are still left to use costly, and often ineffective, methods of frost avoidance.

We wanted to give plants the power to stave off the cold, by making frost avoidance intrinsic. As the world's population grows, sustainable and reliable food production is becoming more important than ever.

We hope our project can be a part of a global change in the use of transgenic crops. This is the SECA NZ iGEM Project for 2017.
