Safe Project Design

PROJECT SAFETY FEATURES

  • Our experiment used non-pathogenic strains of bacteria for all experiements
  • All parts investigated are safe for all animals, humans, and plant-life
Safe Lab Work

DAILY SAFETY PROCEDURES

  • At the beginning of the project, all members were required to complete the University of Iowa's Environmental Health and Safety courses related to working with bacteria and the necessary lab equipment
  • Students were expected to understand and follow diligently the course material in such a way that paid respect to the gravity of the health risks at hand
