Pretty Cold Plant

Frozen in Thyme

Frost resistant tecnology within frost intolerant crops
Every year millions of dollars’ worth of produce is damaged, lost or never produced as a result of frosts. Frost damages the growing buds and shoots, leading new plant and fruit growth to be severely inhibited. The majority of producers still utilise costly, and often ineffective, traditional methods of frost avoidance.
For our project we wanted to make these frost resistance mechanisms intrinsic to the crop, giving the plant the power to stave off the cold. As the world's population grows, sustainable and reliable food production is becoming more important than ever. We hope this project can be a part of that process.
