Project Description
Easily approachable self-diagnosis has been a leading trend in health-related industries. Pre-existing stool test has faced difficulties such as procedural complexity and high-tech dependent methods, which makes potential patients vulnerable to the early detection and thus termination of the progression of a disease. This year, team KUAS_Korea presents a daily-based approach to solve aforementioned challenges. Genetically modified Lactobacillus casei in a dairy product will be the visible indicator of gastrointestinal diseases by converting the biological signals into color pigments. Individuals can easily identify their own health conditions by simply checking the color of their feces after eating our product. Screening of occult blood, pH variation, bile acid residues and certain infectious pathogens will enable the early diagnosis of relatively undetectable, yet life-destructive diseases. In the case of detecting occult blood, Isd domain expressed on the cell surface degrades heme and intakes iron cation. This will eventually lead to the activation of an iron-indicating promoter, resulting in the excretion of occult blood-specific pigment. In order to obtain the significant visualization, amplification system of pigment expression via quorum sensing will be provided.

Styling your wiki
You may style this page as you like or you can simply leave the style as it is. You can easily keep the styling and edit the content of these default wiki pages with your project information and completely fulfill the requirement to document your project.

Uploading pictures and files
You can upload your pictures and files to the iGEM 2017 server. Remember to keep all your pictures and files within your team's namespace or at least include your team's name in the file name.
When you upload, set the "Destination Filename" to T--YourOfficialTeamName--NameOfFile.jpg
. (If you don't do this, someone else might upload a different file with the same "Destination Filename", and your file would be erased!)
