Hi there !
We, the IGEM team of NIPER Guwahati are a group of passionate biotechnologists exploring the field of synthetic biology. As such, we strive hard to bring synthetic biology closer to the world. And we believe that, under the friendly guidance of our most experienced research associates and with our sincere efforts, we will bring about changes that will raise the bar for research in synthetic biology.
The 21 century is vastly different from previous centuries just because of the leaps and bounds made in research. We hope that our research will be a building block for great advancements in cancer treatment. It has been a most challenging and exciting journey as we join forces with others in the battle against cancer.

Enthusiastic and bright, her real talent lies in all things tech. Which is why she’s the head designer of our website.

Prajakta Deshmukh The livewire – enthuses about all things iGEM

Always cheerful and ready to contribute in any way, her expertise is in the area of in vitro techniques.

Arjun Prasad Mr. Dependable – gets things done

He is someone who won’t let you down, a person who is indefatigable in his efforts for the team.

Sireesha Kolimigundla Willing hands – ready for anything

She is always ready for any wet lab work. We call her the gel gal coz she always makes the gel for agarose gel electrophoresis.

Vijay Agarwal The Brainiac – Always asking why

He believes that knowledge is power and always has to have an answer for everything.

Abiya Johnson Jack of all trades – tries everything at least once

She is the pillar of our team and knows how to stay calm in any situation. A versatile person with multitasking abilities.

Veera Vijay is a PhD scholar in the Department of biotechnology. He has extensive knowledge in the area of DNAzymes. He was instrumental in designing the project webpage.

G. Vijay is a PhD scholar in the department of biotechnology. He has extensive knowledge in the area of DNAzymes. He also advises us along with our Guides. He is expert in performing different molecular techniques. He has shown impeccable command over practical work throughout this project.

Shravan Kumar Our consultant

Mr Shravan is a PhD scholar in the department of biotechnology. He has good basic knowledge and expertise in the area of invitro techniques. His analytical ability and effortless assimilation of concepts accompanied by his assiduous efforts are commendable.

Mrs. Nijara sarmah The resident Techie – in charge of all things tech.

Mrs. Nijara Sarmah is the System Engineer at NIPER - Guwahati. She is one of our greatest supporters and has offered us valuable tips on web designing. We go to her for all computer related advice.

Primary Instructors

Dr. Utpal Mohan The captain - Steers the team in the right direction

Dr Utpal Mohan is an assistant professor from the Department of Biotechnology, NIPER- Guwahati. He is the primary instructor of our team and our able captain. He believes that synthetic biology holds the key to numerous scientific discoveries. Eternally optimistic about our success, he always sees the possibilities in everything and is afire with ideas.

Dr. Swapnil Sinha The anchor – keeps us all grounded

Dr. Swapnil Sinha is a woman scientist from the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. She taught all the lab protocols and equipment handling. She assesses everything at the start and end of the day and comes up with a plan for the next day. She keeps us grounded whenever we get our heads too high in the clouds.
