Our human practices including several aspect, such as biosafety, social activity and public education. Since Carindex is a genetically-modified product (GMP), so our work focuses on promotion of the knowledge for GMP and survey on people's concern about GMP.

Self-learning

1. The third International Symposium on Epigenetic Genomics organized：

In order to complete our project and products, we need various knowledge from different fields. In May this year, all of our team members participated in the third International Symposium on Epigenetic Genomics organized by the National Chung Cheng University. In this conference, we learned a lot from the profession and ask them a lot of question regarding many fields, including oral health study. We had received a lot of precious information from the conference.

2. Safety Training：

We know that for the public, the safety of synthetic biology has always been the focus of attention. Thus, in order to let the community can trust our research and development of products, All of team member also participated in the relevant security Training. In the middle of September we participated the laboratory safety and health education and training that held by national Chung Cheng University. We have a better understanding of the safety of the laboratory in this training.

3. MIT beyond food mini bootcamp：

Since one of our goal is to win the entrepreneurship special prize, this year May, we participated in the "MIT beyond food mini bootcamp" held in Taiwan. During this two-day camp, we learned a lot from many professional entrepreneurs in this field and experienced operation of as businessman. This helped us have a clear and better idea for our entrepreneurship plan.

Engagement with local

1. A short version of health insurance introduction：

Taiwan's health insurance has been a major highlight of social policy. When we conducted the PMR market survey, we found that the general public did not have a complete understanding of Taiwan's health insurance, and even misunderstandings that lead to the abuse of social welfare system, resulting in the waste of social resources and the burden of state finances. From oral health care, our products are more expected to be able to combine with the country's health insurance system and hope that through our product. Users will be able to know their oral conditional through our device and to know how to improve their oral status. In order to avoid the follow-up to a large number of medical resources, the user's mouth can be early detection of tooth decay so that reduce the country in the part of the medical expenses, more to take a preventive treatment. So we have made a detailed introduction to the national health insurance system through a simple publicity, in which we explain the health insurance situation detail in Taiwan over the years, and explain the meaning of health insurance, to build a the correct use of health insurance concept. Expectations can teach the public the correct concept of the community to bring more benefits, so that the sustainable development of national resources.

2. Actual experimental operation：

In order to make it easier and closer for students to understand our experiment, we actually let students to do the relevant experiments on biology. Those senior high school students can be to understand what need to pay attention to the skills though a very simple the experiment from the activities. They are interested in the relevant knowledge of the experiment, have a good contact during this activities. After activities of the feedback, they said that for such activities are very interested, and hope that the future have more opportunities to participate same activities.

3. University camp and senior high school camp to explain synthetic biology, introduction team:

In order to allow synthetic biology from the grassroots began to build a certain knowledge, so that more people can understand the biology of synthetic technology and security. During the summer, we went to the camp of University and senior high school, to detailed introduce about the iGEM and synthetic biology to their. In our current design, the senior high school students can simply understand about the biotechnology related technology, as well as the various aspects of the impact in this behind . According to our feedback questionnaire in the course, before this course, most of the students have not experienced for synthetic biology and even fundamental changes in food and other related issues, there are doubts or even bad image, But after this course, most of the students are not only a correct and more understanding for the synthesis of biology and genetic modification and other issues, but also to eliminate the previous synthesis of biology in this area of various questions.
On the other hand, we introduce about our team project and current status to high school students. Thought this introduction they can clearly understand the current health care problems in Taiwan, and why we want to do this project. In the course of the feedback, they said that they learn to a lot of acknowledge from this communication and they also want make same thing in future.

National communities and approaches

1. Visited to Professor Mrs. Xiu-mei Chen of Taiwan University of Science and Technology：

We visited Professor Mrs. Xiu-mei Chen of Taiwan University of Science and Technology in June this year, and asked her about the technology of detecting the concentration of bacteria in the chip. According to our understanding, the chip developed by Professor Chen Xiumei can detect the concentration of many bacteria and can also detect that we need to detect the bacteria ”S.mutans”. Therefore, we asked Professor Chen Xiu Mei related technology. We have a lot of benefit in the discussion process that help us to improve in the production of device.

2. Visited to the president of the technology company Mr. uily and professor Mr. Zhong-guang Chen of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology：

In order to make our products closer to the market, more in line with the needs of users. We invited the president of the 新芽technology company Mr. uily to discuss with us the current development of the device. In the course of the discussion, we learned that many of the products on the market, and the relevant products to do an in-depth analysis and discussion. We absorb the relevant advantages of those production, and applied to our products, help to improve our product planning structure.
On the other hand, we are also invited to the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology teacher Mr. Zhong-guang Chen, teach us about the establishment of product business model design, help us in the subsequent commercialization of the product.

Survey

1. Oral status and condition survey:

In order to understand the oral status of the community in Taiwan, and whether they have right concept of oral health care, we conducted an online survey to observe the idea of our development of the product in the community is not really need or not, the survey results are as follows:
Total sample is 678 people.

Summary

From the above information we can see that the people of Taiwan in the oral health care, although the average level of concern for oral health is high, regular go to dentist more than half, but still more than 80% of people have oral diseases, more than there is irregular go to dentist. So we think that preventive oral treatment is must be necessary in Taiwan. Our products is helpful to solve this problem in Taiwan.

2. Gene Modified survey:

The gene modified has been an issue of concern to the public, and many people have been skeptical about this issue. In order to understand how many people are skeptical about genetically modified, we conducted a genetically modified survey, including online questionnaires, actual questionnaires, booth activities. We tried to communicate with the community public, and be goiog to build an equal platform for communication that will reduce our community public people concerns about gene modified. Thus, we do a lot of activities to achieve our goal, such as public booth, university camps, the senior high school students experience activities.
Through these activities, we have made a comparison of the views on the foundation reform before and after the participation of the public. The results are as follows:
Total sample is 156 people.

From the above information we can see that public people understand about GMP condition. So, when we do many activities, we have made a comparison of the views reform before and after the participation of the public on the foundation.

Summary

With above information, we can see that all most people after participating our activities, they have more understand about GMP on many aspect, just like GMP safe, influence on human health, relevant GMP concept.
